Ajax Caribbean Week Proclamation 2015

Ajax Caribbean Week

On May 11th, I was proud to attend the Town of Ajax Council‎ Meeting, where our council for the second year in a row approved and proclaimed the 2nd week in June to be Ajax Caribbean Week.

During that week there will be several events occurring and at Boyer Chevrolet Buick GMC, also for the second year there will‎ be a free Caribbean Theme and Family Fun Event.  Caribbean music, food, costumes, face painting, and just good old fashion fun.

I’m very proud of Mary Galvin. She is the organizer of the Durham Caribbean Festival to be held on Sunday June 28th at Greenwood Park. It’s her passion and drive behind this event that was the precipitous of Ajax Caribbean Week.

The fact is approx 40 percent of Ajax’s 110,000 population are visible minorities ‎and the largest of this group being of Caribbean heritage.

The week as well as the festival encourages and welcomes everyone to experience some Caribbean flavour! It’s a rich culture and I can tell you first hand the food ‎and music in particular  are spectacular. We encourage multiculturalism. It’s healthy for our community and society as a whole. Experience the wonders of other cultures my parents always taught me.

I’m also very proud of our town council and the Mayor for supporting this.  As we all work together on events like these, our community just gets better and better.

We’re simply… proud sponsors of Ajax Caribbean Week and the Durham Caribbean Festival.
